Some of our time this year of 2021 are practices on the topic of each season based in the traditional Chinese medicine 5 element wheel. It’s summer so the element is Fire and the body organs are heart and small intestine.
More detail about the heart and its biofield today for this post.
Having a peaceful heart, balanced emotions, learning to digest and process the emotions and experiences of life, help keep a cool head, warm heart and fire in the belly.
The heart is the king or emperor according to this 5 element tradition because its task is to transmit to the whole biofield of the body, a unifying message.
A peaceful, coherent, tranquil heart transmits to every cell, and to the electromagnetic field outside the body, the message of love, safety, acceptance, forgiveness, honesty, and empathy. Our practices during this week, and summer season will enhance and encourage this heart coherence.
Besides traditional Chinese medicine, Aristotle propounded a ‘cardiocentric’ version of human anatomy, which held that the true center of human intelligence lay in the heart, not the brain or mind. In recent decades, science has caught up with this idea with more studies and information about how the heart functions in relation to the rest of the body.
A good place to start to find more about the science as related to the king of body organs, the heart: https://www.heartmath.com/
A human heart contains ten of thousands of neural cells; its own nervous system which sends complex signals to the brain, in fact, more signals than the brain sends to the heart.
The most crucial observation is the electromagnetic power of the heart, which is 5000 times greater than that of the brain. We have a field permeating and surrounding the body, generated from the heart. How far this field extends beyond the body, depends up health or illness and emotions, but likely several feet out and even outwards to 20-25 feet. It interacts with other fields of energy, like the earth field, plants, animals and especially other people. Our heart field is capable of communicating, before words, with these other fields a variety of light and information. This information is also communicated to and through our own body systems. Just like the King of the land communicating the vision and message to all the subjects.
Heart coherence is when the heart beats in a rhythmic and consistent pattern. When our hearts are in that coherent state, we can regulate our internal state independently of what we’re experiencing in the world around us. So even though we may be experiencing stress, anxiety, and uncertainty in our lives, it is possible for us to regulate our heart and emotions so our health can remain in balance. This is what is meant by the peaceful Emperor or peaceful heart blessing the whole kingdom because it is a healthy unifying message of love. Coherence is how we uncover the innate joy of the heart.
During the class times we will play with the heart coherence meditation which involves relaxing the body, focusing the deep breath as if it were inhaling and exhaling through the heart, then adding the amplifying power of elevated emotion, usually through thoughts of gratitude or awe.
