For the final 2 months of this year, we will look at how to move our class forward into what it takes to accomplish any version of scorpion.
In the class we are emphasizing the journey rather than the finished posture. It might require more personal attention for any individual to accomplish the finished version, but we want to take a few months to build strength, flexibility and creativity so each class member finds their own scorpion pose.
The postures that we will use as preparation are elbow plank, camel, cobra, and dolphin – as well as others to build the strength. Following are pictures we took for modifications and assists during this scorpion journey.
This is a statue representing the Egyptian Goddess Serkhet. The goddess of healing stings and bites. So if the scorpion pose done from a forearm stand is not advisable, then the Egyptian Scorpion is a great option.
Students can play with placement of arms or using a bolster to help with a more stable lower back.
